In-N-Out Flying Dutchman Burger
This is the biggest viral recipe of 2024! I’m so easily food influenced too, especially for a cheeseburger.
But living in the midwest we don’t have In-N Out. So my version of the Flying Dutchman Burger is the answer!
And it’s so easy for you to make! #LetsVibe
Ingredients
• 1/2 lb ground chuck, divided
• 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
• 3 slices american cheese
• dill pickle slices
• 1 large white onion, sliced
• 1 teaspoon worchestershire sauce
• 1 tablespoon avocado oil
Seasoning Blend
• 1/2 tablespoon sea salt
• 1 teaspoon black pepper
• 1 teaspoon granulated onion
• 1/2 teaspoon granulated garlic
• 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
• 1/2 teaspoon celery salt
Burger Sauce
• 2 tablespoons ketchup
• 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
• 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
• 1 tablespoon sweet relish
• 1/4 teaspoon Old Bay Seasoning
Instructions
In a small bowl, mix together sea salt, black pepper, granulated onion, granulated garlic, smoked paprika, and celery salt. Set aside.
Divide the ground chuck into two equal portions and form each into a thin patty. Season both sides of each patty with the prepared seasoning blend.
In a skillet over medium heat, add avocado oil. Add sliced onions in a single layer and Worcestershire sauce. Sauté until the onion slices are caramelized and golden brown on just one side. Set aside.
In the same skillet or on a griddle, cook the seasoned burger patties on one side 2-3 minutes.
Add mustard to the uncooked side and flip patties to cook an additional 2-3 minutes on the mustard coated side.
Place a slice of American cheese on each patty a minute before they're done to allow it to melt.
In a small bowl, mix together ketchup, mayonnaise, yellow mustard, sweet relish, and Old Bay Seasoning to create the burger sauce.
Place one onion “bun” on a plate, add a portion of burger sauce, top with the burger patties, pickles, and finish with the second onion slice.
Serve the Flying Dutchman Burger with extra burger sauce on the side and enjoy the deliciousness of this In-N-Out-inspired creation!
Recipe Pro Tips:
• Aim for thin burger patties to mimic the classic In-N-Out style. Thin patties cook quickly, allowing the cheese to melt just right and ensuring a deliciously balanced flavor in every bite.
• The Worcestershire sauce in the caramelized onions adds a depth of flavor and a hint of umami. Be mindful not to overcook the onions, keeping them slightly firm with a sweet and savory profile.
• To achieve the iconic In-N-Out look, add the American cheese slice to the burger patties just a minute before they're done cooking. This ensures a perfectly melted, gooey layer of cheese that binds the patties together for the ultimate Flying Dutchman experience.
